Championship Manager 17 has a structure that is very similar to any other football management sim out there. Players only need to choose their team, sign players, control tactics and can do a few training regime as well.
The game’s local rival Football Manager is premium, but Championship Manager 17 is entirely free to play. Players can use the three currencies available for training, looking for new players, facility upgrades and everything else. But they’re always pressured into spending their foot box, and sometimes reach the point where it can be a requirement.
While all three currencies can be acquired automatically, players should know that there is no organic way for them to improve their players. Doing anything without spending anything feels like doing an online shopping rather than a football sim.
Players just pick up the things they want, turn over the money, and their players will automatically be 50% better. In addition, the game’s overbearing free to play model also limits any tactics or strategy to the game’s matches.
In Football Manager, every time a player scores, it feels like they scored it and they deserved it. However, in Championship Manager 17, it sometimes feels like players are cheated or they just won because their players are already in high-tier compared to their opponents.
