The game is an RPG along with turn-based battles with a mission to lead a team of superheroes and supervillains from the DC universe. The characters are united for the very first time to defeat the powerful evil named Nekron. Nekron is the lord of death who is a threat to all because of his plan of terminating all life throughout the whole universe.

The game allows players to form their own team of superheroes and can choose from the several different characters available. Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Doomsday, Harley Quinn, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Shazam, and Joker are just a few of the superheroes that can be recruited. Choosing the right character and combining them can mean a lot between victory and defeat.

The fights in the game take place in turn. Every character comes with two or more different superpowers that can be activated during their turn. These powers can cause damage to enemies, and others give an option of attacking all enemies at once. Support powers are also available.

Before heading to battle, players can opt to customize their team. This can be done through the character selection screen where players can choose which superheroes of supervillains they will take into battle. Players can also level up their characters, upgrade their abilities, and unlock more outfits.
