Gameplay
Gunship Battle Helicopter 3D offers an episode that is compiled of mission that is based on real war scenes from all over the world. Every time you finished an episode, you can proceed to the next level of difficulty or dive into a customized mission. You will have to prepare yourself because your enemy will fight back in the middle of an intense enemy crossfire.
At the entry levels, you’ll find that the enemy units are static. That means that the more you advance, the more complex their formations will become, and they will start to move around. The real battle only begins when your enemy forces will come with choppers that are savvier than you and know their way around the map.
What you need to do is to enter your username so that game can immediately save your progress on its server. That enables you to continue where you left of the previous game and not lose progress.
Your base of operation is aboard an aircraft carrier. This carrier is where you can choose which helicopters you’ll use to finish the next mission and where you can also change your equipment. You will begin with a simple but effective default helicopter nicknamed as “Little Bird.” Completing missions will reward you credits which you can use to purchase more advanced and powerful helicopters. You can also choose from the real-life choppers such as Hind, Huey, Black Hawk, Comanche, and to the more futuristic Dragon Ship.
But there’s a limited section of the one that you can purchase using the in-game credits compared to the freemium models which you can only buy by spending gold. Gold can be acquired via micro transactions. Gunship Battle also offers some rental service where you can use selected advanced helicopter models for a set number of missions.
Missions are taken place in fixed map locations where you will need to complete objectives which include destroying various ground, naval targets, or air. Remember that your helicopter has an unlimited amount of ammo that is divided by clips.
Once your helicopter’s current ammo clip runs out, you will have to wait for just a few seconds for it to reload and then you’ll get free full clip ammo again. But your chopper has a limited amount of health. The only way you can regain its health is by flying through a green health or repair symbol when you’re in the middle of the battle. It randomly appears when buildings get destroyed. Make sure to pick up items like these because they only appear for a short amount of time. So prioritize on flying over them to get them.
Your enemies will range from the puny foot soldiers to heavily armored tanks, helicopters, ships, watchtowers, and much more. All of them can deal different amounts of damage to your chopper. Since your enemies can sometimes be accurate at short range, it’s always a good idea to engage and destroy them from a distance. But you need to be careful because destroying your chopper and failing the mission can affect negative losses on both your current mission points and credits.
Gunship Battle Helicopter 3D Controls
Probably the worst part of the game is its controls. Even though games that feature tilt control to the game’s advantage are very rare. Nevertheless, this game failed to introduce a tilt control option that would make the game a delight rather than every gamer’s misery.
You will find that it’s very difficult to control your chopper and it’s even harder to aim. And there’s no way for you to control the height and land your chopper. You will often find yourself flopping around trying to figure out a way on how to drop some altitude. And if ever you decide to create a circle the scene and try to aim from a different angle, you will just stumble on a digital wall that won’t even let you finish the maneuver.
While the first five missions are very easy, where you can survive and complete them with the hectic controls, the tougher the mission gets, the more aggravating the gameplay gets.
Your Ammo
Every chopper has its own ammo, and you can even upgrade it. The one item that worked for me when I tried playing the game is the guns. Provided that I could aim easily, sooner or later my enemies would just give in to the rain of flashing bullets. On the other hand, the missile turned out useless since you will never know how to aim them at your enemies. Even though your enemies are in the aiming, those missiles will just fly higher, or even sideways. I know that there is a trick that you could learn on how to aim missiles better, and the developers are very welcome to bring them up anytime.
No Multiplayer Mode Available
The game doesn’t feature a multiplayer mode even though you can connect online to compare your scores and rankings to other players. Connecting the game to the internet is not really necessary to enjoy the full features of the game. You can purchase gold and back up your game data on the game’s server while you’re online. The game also doesn’t have any ads when it’s not online. However, if you want your device to be always online and you don’t want to see these irritating ads, buying gold will definitely remove them permanently.
Graphics
The game’s graphics are very impressive. You will see that the individual helicopter models, landscape, and even the enemy units and structures are very detailed. The game’s visual effects like weapon fire and explosions mixes well with the action. You may sometimes encounter occasional split second lags as well. However, the game’s audio and sound effects are perfect.
IAPs
If you notice at the selection of helicopters part, you will see that each chopper comes with a price, and while some of them can just be bought via game’s currency that you can earn as you accomplish missions. The coolest helicopters are very expensive that you will need to spend real money in order to buy them.
The G currency that you get as you install the game can be used to purchase choppers, but it does not replenish as you complete missions. You can only purchase it using real money. But it doesn’t mean that in –app purchases are intrusive, the game just offers a way to play for free at a certain level. And it will only require you to buy if you want to have an advanced chopper.
Trips and Tricks
Make Sure That You Know How To Aim
The game’s control is controlled by a gravity sensor which makes it more difficult to aim. What you need to do is to aim at the target after the close. Never control your chopper forward or downward. Just let the gravity sensor control the aiming for you.
Make Sure To Fire And Take Down Your Enemies!
Firing is very simple. All you need to do is to just press the fire button. You can also choose to bring your own weapons depending on the situation. Make sure to aim properly in order to hit your target. If you don’t aim properly at your target, you will just end up losing.
Be on the Move
Make sure that you are always one the move. Take note that you don’t need to get too close to your target because that’s just a fast way to get killed easily with guns. Always stay from side to side and make sure to change your elevation often. Not only that will throw off your enemies’ guns, but it could also break their plans to lock onto you using their deadly missiles. Always move even while you are firing or trying to kill your enemies.
Do some upgrades
Keep in mind that upgrades will always start off cheap and will only get more expensive as you make progress on the game. And if ever your upgrade takes only less than five minutes to complete, you can finish it right away at no cost. Remember that upgrading your engine can improve your chopper’s forward and reverse speed. Rotor upgrades improve your chopper’s elevation changes and wing upgrades improve its turning. Gun and missile upgrades are just self-explanatory.
Make sure to upgrade everything to the same level, so that it will cost you a little and so that you can get much out of it as possible. When you already have enough upgrades, you’ll be able to add something new to your helicopter such as a second set of missiles. So always make sure to upgrade your chopper regularly. You can also play again while you’re waiting for your upgrades to finish.
