Pokémon Go is a highly popular free-to-play reality MMO that turns the real world into a place where Pokémon can freely roam around, and trainers are ready to check them. Players can search the world around them and watch their trainers follow their steps on a GPS-enabled map through radar to find the Pokemon nearest to them, or they can visit local landmarks called Pokestops for them to get item rewards.
Players can catch the original 150 Pokemon to fill their Pokedex with the game’s special capturing mechanic, which will require players to carefully time and throw Pokeballs at their enemy Pokemon while they dodge and attack. Players can also boost and evolve their captured and hatched Pokemon to make them stronger to challenge gyms. Once they reach level 5, they can select from one of three factions: Mystic, Team Instinct, and Valor, each with their own unique color and reason for Battling.
After selecting a team, players then can challenge or defend Pokemon gyms to increase their factions’ prestige and defeat the opposing factions. Pokemon battles only happen when players challenge gyms, using swiping and tapping to attack and dodge opponents.
